I'm so busy these days. I'm the only designer in the company now. Which simply means I'm burried with tons of work. I get a little dizzy whenever I look at my "Do To List". It's sooooo long! Gosh. I need a breather that's why I'm typing all this now.

I'm home now, on medical leave. So, I have a little time on my side for this space right now.
Here to update this abandoned space with Jiaqi's 21st birthday party before time flies...

"Meeska Mooska Mickey Mouse" Clubhouse Party
@ The Club, 28 Ann Siang Road, Room No. 206

Everyone who knows this girl will know that she's in love with Mickey and Minnie mouse (& they MUST come in a pair. Lol.) She's just cute that way. Haha. She booked a room at The Club, a boutique hotel at Ann Siang. It's a really simple and pretty place. The room is mainly black and white which fits her theme perfectly, with modern-classical pieces which adds this classy-ness to it. Slightly on the small side for a crowd as big as ours but it's cozy. Well, the coziness might be because of its carpet flooring. It's like DAMN FURRY. Lol.

Just to show that I do remember names LOL (clockwise): Me, Don (ANTM fanatic), Cheryl, Meldric, Ying Zi, Josh (PAP/Prefect of the day), Jing Long ( Official Photographer for the day), Joyce, Andy, Jiaqi (Birthday Girl!).

Alright, that's actually Andy.

Being Jiaqi, she's just so detailed. Doing small little things like these. Look at the "packaging". The little cakes were yummy! I particularly like the cheesecake one. The mango mousse cake was good too. Well, it's just a really sweet day filled with lots of sweet treats for our sweet tooth ;)

HAHAHA. This is my masterpiece.
Qi, Jing Long, Josh and I were just sitting around and talking when she had to send some of her friends down. When she's gone, the two guys happened to find an un-popped party popper. And the rest you know... hahaha. (Well, this picture is actually the second try - from a USED party popper. But we managed to scare her all the same).

Oh did I mention the washroom is really photogenic?? (And a very grumpy looking Meldric.) But the washroom can't be locked at all! Like wth. It's a clear glass sliding door with frosted glass in the middle (so if someone is inside... you can still see his/her legs -,-). And somehow the sliding door slides open by itself sometimes too. Lol. I was changing in there the next morning and asked Qi to look out for me. She was like "Okay! Okay! I'll help you keep a lookout" and while I'm wearing my shorts the door slided opened... leaving me yelling for help. That's my awesome friend for you yah. Lol. Luckily the washroom is located at a corner so it isn't in full view from the room. Yahhhh.

Oh. We had a balloon fight too. At 2am in the morning? I'm pretty amazed not a single soul complained about the noise we were making. We weren't exactly angels fluttering among balloons. I am STILL amazed.

I don't know why I just had to sit right smack in the middle. I was such an easy target okay. And the guys are pretty scary. Mental note: Don't ever put a guy and balloon together. It creates a monster. Kinda. ~~Especially ahem Don and Andy.~~

Hurhur. That's just Josh helping me with the pouring. I just happened to pour a lot more liquor than intended. But from my angle it doesn't look that much. Oh well.

Most of us were knocked out by 7am. A little packing and washing up, and we were good to go. Had Mc breakfast with them and headed home after. I slept for the next two days and I don't think I got my energy back. Lol. I feel O L D.

Double beef chuck patties, extra thick bacon, cheddar cheese, fried egg, and homemade Fatboy's sauce on sesame bun. That's the Fat Basterd for you. It's so HUGE so I settled on Wimpy instead, which is half of the Fat Basterd. It's really yummy! I really like it. Especially the fried egg... It's crispy and golden brown all round. Yums.

Set up took close to 12 hours.
There I am with the layout plans, in the morning - waiting for the workers to move down the furniture.

I was at the landing in between the stairs when I almost got a shock of my life. This box of picnic table came sliding down the stairs, ALMOST hittingthe area I just styled (which will be terrible! Cuz I painstakingly stuck on vines and flowers bit by bit). Well, turned out they were just having some fun. Lol.

After weeks of endless tasks and sai kangs, I finally had the time to tidy up my office desk and folder on the server today. Have been buried in piles of paper and magazines for weeks.

Ever since Jason left the company, my work load just keep piling up. Alright, Jason is this designer who came to help the company out during its peak period nearing the end of last year. He's really good in his job and he's like super nice. A really nice Ah Beng (and like all Ah Bengs, he doesn't admit that he's one. Kidding!) But he's working in Shanghai now. And soooooo..... I'm landed with double the work. Well, the work load is considered managable now cuz Hannah is here. She's an intern from SP. Thank God. But, she's leaving next week! S I G H S. Oh well. Anyway.... yep, I am back from Port Dickson (yes, the company trip). Alive. Haha. Okay lah... it isn't as baaaaad as I thought it will be. I realised I upload the pictures for the company trip at the back so I'll talk about it later. Oppsy.

Scanteak Midnight Sale

The first midnight sale this year. Hella busy.

Midnight Sale is this campaign which Henderson and JooChiat showrooms will open till midnight on two saturdays and there will be promotion for most of their products, free snacks for customers, etc. For most campaigns and events, there comes deco.... so Liz and I had to style Henderson and JC for Midnight Sale.... (Liz is the designer of the company. She's mua boss).

Liz and I went to Gobi for lunch when we went to JC to decorate the showroom (after dumping the job of blowing up the balloons to the sales people Daniel and Edward there). It's like directly opposite JC showroom. The dessert there is yums! Really nice place.... Btw, the indian food at JC is awesome too.

Well, the theme was Alarm Clock... so Liz suggested printing "alarm clocks". We printed and laminate tons of "alarm clocks" (in house) and cut them out in two nights and stuck them all over both of the showrooms. We hung fairy lights and stuck vines all over as well. I love vines :)

And here are the balloons poor Daniel and Edward had to blow up, tie and hang on the ceiling. Keke.

It's my first time taking up the admin job for a campaign as well. I worked for a saturday, helping out with the admin stuff at Henderson showroom. It's really fun actually. Sales was really good that day! We beat JooChiat's. Spent the day eating chicken pies (for the customers), drinking milo Lilian made, talking to Hilmi about apple products..... etc and working of course. And Hilmi helped me jailbreak my itouch. WAHA.

Port Dickson - Company Trip

Company's Dinner. The best part was the Bingo part. There's a total of 10 games and the winner(s) of each game gets SGD150 (so if there's more than one winner, the price is split). Like wth right! But I didn't win anything :/ But I got 50 bucks from the performance. My group came in third you see.

Free Time. Wander about with Cherie and Bernard. It's like the highlight of the trip. Lol. We went for Thai massage! Haha. We had leg and upper body massage (it's like full body actually) and fish spa. And it's only for about SGD30. CHEAP! Fish spa was so ticklish!! Spent the first ten minutes giggling, taking out and putting in our legs over and over again. But we can't possibly waste our time there so we decided whoever takes his or her legs out of the water first will have to treat the other two to A&W. And...... we got through it. Haha. It was really tolerable after a while actually. The massage was shiok. Surprisingly.

A short litte update before my trip...
Two action packed manga I read recently. I enjoyed reading both, but I prefer The Breaker (clickable) to Psyren (clickable). I'm fine with both of the illustration styles. No chibi characters (it just gets bit annoying when there's a serious storyline and all the characters are well, KIDS). Though both are action manga and I assume targeting young men, the illustration are still pretty to look at. And by this, I mean... not having freakily muscular men with deep ugly frowns and horribly thick angled brows. & Both manga are completed, so no waiting for new volumes :) Awesome.

Gotta wake up at four later. ZZZZZZZZZZZ

I'll be going to Port Dickson on Monday. For two days. Will be back on Tuesday night. It's a COMPANY TRIP. Hmm... not the "We trust you so we are sending you overseas to work" kinda thing. Yes, I'm still at Scanteak, working my days away. And yes, all the way at Sungei Kadut. Travelling seriously sucks. It's so draining... Well, drained from having to compete with the aunties over seats in the mornings (just kidding!) and having to endure the overwhelming amount of testosterone in the MRT cabins in the evenings. Seriously, there is this wondrous invention call the deodorant so please use it. I will be very thankful.
I'll be back to update about my now-boring-life.

I have always been dissatisfied with countless things around me.
Be it because of the generation I belong to, or it is just me, I'm not sure.

If one ask me what I want in life, what I want to be, what do I aim for...? Frankly speaking, I don't know. But I do know what I do not want. Though having studied Interior Design back in school, the job of a draftsperson have never crossed my mind. The idea of just being a tool to help the people who have the say to realise their dreams and ideas is depressing. Despite of being so sure of what I do not want, I still fell into this horrible nightmare. Yes, just a tool.

I was a naive fresh graduate I guess... Now, it hit me.
Being out here isn't like in school. It's yourself against everyone.
It's a battlefield.
And everyone has to start out as a low ranking soldier. One that follows commands.

In Singapore's design industry, I think there are many who treat designers as tools. Even if one is a "general", it'll be the same. Probably just having the right to reject or refuse the job.

Designers are not getting the respect they should get. Questions like "Can the design fee be waived off if the whole project is given to you?" is an insult. It is an insult. Design fee is not just the privilege of known designers. Every designer has the right to ask for a design fee and should ask for it. A designer is a profession.

Have you ever ask a doctor to waive off your consultation fee? And the answer is no.

Well apart from the depressing fact, there are still bits and pieces of joy while working. Be it an excuse to take a break or trying to get inspiration for work, I flip through catalogs and magazines every now and then. And today, I came across Restoration Hardware. I really really like what I saw in the catalog. If I don't have to slog through life to earn money, I'll be shopping for furniture... like right now.

Hey peeps! I'm already 20 man. Time just took up speed once I hit 16. Celebrated my birthday three times this year. Awesome! Haha. And someone still owes me a birthday dinner. Yup. Oh ya, I just bought a new laptop. Great, but I gotta pay my mom... which makes me a pauper for the next three months or so. I'm loaded with debts now... Oh well. I'm hooked to Culture Club now. Kept playing Karma Chameleon and Do You Really Want To Hurt Me on iTunes over and over again. Haha. And here's Boy George!

This is obviously a picture of him THEN. Back in the 80s. I really like this picture of him! HAHA. I think he's a great performer... the way he sings, his awkward dance moves that never fails to entertain me (and he is so humourous!) And being out there in the 80s with makeup and dressed in frocks is just so daring of him.

Yep, my Harry Potter books are finally here. I'm finishing up Goblet of Fire soon :)
Real busy with work for this whole month. Waking up as early as 6:30am and reaching home as late as 1am. And it's finally my last day at work today (later. Just gotta survive till 6pm. I'm so NOT going to work OT later)! Awesome! I've been looking forward to my last day since the first week of work. It pays well for a no brainer job but it really did drain me physically and mentally. Will be more active here when I'm outta there!

I haven't been this tired for a long time.

It's the second day of work at Starhub, and I just got back home from OT work (till 12am). Wonderful isn't it? Haha. My first day there was quite horrid actually. Today was much better. My whole day was spent waiving off charges, swopping hub stations, cursing at technicians' indecipherable handwriting, hoping for more blacklisted customers, calculating my pay... ...
It's a tiring and boring job but the pay's not bad. (I earnt 98 bucks for today... and it's my training pay rate now)

I want a workshop at home!
Why don't any workshops rent out their cutting machines for an hour for a couple of bucks? Bleh. The only wood I can cut at home is costly, very light, very soft balsa wood. I can hardly build anything from balsa wood, except for my studio project MOCK UP.

I just bought a RATIONELL cutlery tray basic unit from Ikea a couple of days back and I'm in the process of transforming it into my accessories storage tray. I just construct this small little structure on the tray unit to hang my hair bands with balsa. Except for the mismatch in colours of balsa and the original wood, it looks pretty decent I can say. Lol. But that's about it. I can't do much. I can't even cut the original dividers (comes with the tray unit) into the length I want. So frustrating!

夏祭り @ The Japanese School
Natsu Matsuri is such a beautiful festival.
& YAY! We got our tickets beforehand this year (so we managed to rent yukata) all thanks to pokerface Jas! Overall, the festival's great. Just that the queues are hella long and the weather's a bitch especially when we're wrapped up tightly in yukata. Haha.

Bon Odori is still my favourite part of the whole festival!

But seriously, haven't you MEN heard of deodorant? Cos you all stink. Real bad.

PS: Oh yah, the postman just came this morning with my parcel from HongKong!! It's something really interesting. Shall take some pictures when the sun is up (and bright) and post them up. Soon.

I'm having a tough time choosing a laptop man...
Performance in CAD and 3D modelling, aesthetics... ...

It's just darn sad that AutoCAD, 3D Max and Rhinoceros don't support Mac (I heard there's going to be iRhino or something soon)... I love Mac for it's aesthetics. It's just so pretty to look at. I considered buying a Macbook Pro and I'll just run these programs via bootcamp or parallels... But then again, it's rather stupid since the majority of the programs I use will run on windows. Guess Mac wouldn't be my choice now... Sighs. (But it's so pretty... ...)

Vaio E series might be good too. Yeh, cos it does look rather appealing. Regarding its features and capabilities, I've not look much into that. But it's rather heavy... (and Macbook Pro still look better -,-)

Thinking about HP laptops now... HP Pavilion dm4-1000 seems not bad...
Oh well, still thinking.

I just bought Harry Potter adult box set from eBay!!

Costing me S$105.97 (with FREEEEEE shipping!) Hehe. I think it's really worth it! Cos I saw the children's box set at TPY's Popular, and it cost a whooping S$320 plus. And seriously, the adult set looks better. So, the conclusion is.. I've got myself a good deal. Yup.

Awesome Crispy Roast Pork at Yam Cha!
I'm not someone who fancy fats. I actually dislike it, going to the extend of removing every bit of fats visible to the naked eye before popping whatever meat into my mouth. For this case, the fats is the one that makes it so awesome. And the skin's really damn crispy. I just can't describe it right. Oh well... it's just real good.

I did the calculations, one small cube of pork is S$1.20 ;)
Yes, a small plate is 18 bucks.
But I think it's totaly worth the price!

Lol. I came across this T-shirt and packaging design by Prompt Design and thought it's simple and really cute!

Hmm... In my opinion, there's 3 categories in Design.
The typical one, safest out of the bunch. The safer one with a little twist. And the complex one that no one might understand.

For this case, it's the second one. It is a simple design. Straight to the point yet not typical... The twist in the packaging design is easy to relate to by the general public.

There's the typical ones...
Well, nothing can go wrong if a chair looks like a typical chair right?
Hmm... but sometimes, I wouldn't call it designing.
After my 3 years in NYP, I've grown sensitive to the words "design" and "decorate".
It pisses me off when someone claims to be an interior designer but all he does is place furnitures in a room? Then any auntie or uncle who flips through Home&Decor magazines can be an interior designer. Isn't it? There's nothing wrong with being an interior decorator, but interior design and interior decorating is just different.

And there's the complex ones.
I'm sure at some point of time, you stare in awe at some art installation because... well, you simply don't understand it (or understands the process behind it) or you think it's utter rubbish because you just can't see the sense in it. Complex designs come with in depth design processes... but the general public might not be able to relate to it at all. That's what these designers have to risk I guess. But I think approaching design in this way, one is able to learn more and grow faster.

So, I've never regretted coming to NYP... and being taught in this way. I'm not just taught skills, but more of how I think and work. How I see and interpret things have definitely changed.

Met up with Qi in the afternoon back at NYP yesterday. HAHA. I was there to print my portfolio (cos it's the cheapest place to print your stuff other than your house), and there to satisfy our craving for Lok Lok. But Lok Lok just isn't the same anymore!! The soup stock isn't addictive, the daikon isn't cooked long enough... SIGHS. Disappointing duh. We went back to Studio as well :) Had a little talk with some of the juniors and CJ. Oh boy, I do miss school... ...

& after that met up with Shili and CKY for movie. It might be because we hadn't met for so long... we had so much to talk about and I really did enjoy myself :)
We watched Despicable Me instead of Toy Story 3 cos it was sold out... good choice tho. Cos it's so good! Lighthearted and freaking funny. The 3D version is awesome! (well, if you don't take 3D shows from Disneylands to compare...) But the 3D version is better than Avatar's 3D (in my opinion). I'm soooooo gonna buy the DVD when it's out :D

Went my cousin's child's baby shower on Saturday :) Well, the family is getting bigger (and I'm getting older!)

His name's Daryl. I was at Zara Kids earlier, and my gosh! Those baby clothes are freaking adorable and irresistible! I cant wait for him to be a little older and I'll buy clothes for him. Lol.

One of my cousin's friend's child. He's so cute! I asked him to smile.... and apparently that's his smile. Lol.

When I was on my way to Raffles City earlier, it suddenly hit me that the world is actually fair.
Haha. I must have sounded like a retard. You see, I was reading about karma yesterday. And the weird thing was... I wasn't thinking about it at all when I was in the cab. It just hit me out of no where.

I've always believe in karma... especially recently.
There's some residents living on my desk now and then... A N T S. And these little residents do get irritating. Once, I raise my palm, ready to smack at that little bugger... then I pause, I just thought that if I let this little bugger off now, someone will change his mind about harming me in the future. I had that intention to kill it, but I hope that little change I made, will change the mind of someone in the future.

As we're living now... we are not only creating karma for our future but also experiencing the karma we had created in the past. Let's say there's reincarnation, there's past life and next life... virtuous actions of one's past life might bring him or her... wealth, good fortune, or even beauty to the present life. Whatever we're experiencing now are effects of our past actions. So we shouldn't complain of unfairness isn't it? We will reap what we sow.

IKEA'S SWEDISH MEATBALLS!

Yum yum. How can anybody not like them?? I love the sauce. No idea what sauce is that... oh well, what matters is it taste good with the meatballs.

Yep, went Ikea with Nie. The last time I saw her was... at my graduation show which is... uh... weeks ago (no idea when...not like it matters anymore yah).

I wanted to buy tons of stuff! You know the bed, the desk... sadly, I'm a pauper. I bought a box tho. A pretty big one (not the cardboard kind duh!)... and it's girly-ly pretty with floral prints. Haha. So all my art materials which initially took up the space of four boxes are now all transfered to this one big box. The area under my bed is officially empty :) Next? Thinking how to hack my bed apart cos it's so freaking fat that it can't get OUT of my room -,-

Anw, I went to Nie's place after Ikea cos I wanted to see her make up box that's worth more than a thousand! She's studying makeup now. And it sounds so fun man. Having bitchy and crazy gay friends.... lol.

What I'm up to recently? Unfortunately, nothing destructive (I think). Been painting, earning some loose change (uh money), and planning a HUGE PROJECT. Teehee. My room duh. Drew out some rough sketches and plans... specifications...
Yes, I'm DECORATING my room. Finally some interior decorating. There won't be anyone bugging me about my concept, my design methodology anymore! At least for my room, just let me decorate in peace man (till I miss the studio days). And I'm having fun just doing so.

I got very inspired lately. Might be doing some visuals soon, package them nicely and hopefully they sell. Lol. Still thinking... excited excited ;D

And my mom just told me something last week, "It's time for you to feed me... I'm tired...Why don't you try teaching? Or try the IR? My friend's daughter... ..." Gosh did her words stress me out! I do agree that it's my responsibility and duty as a daughter to provide for her. But just not now. I should not rely on her for pocket money. That I know. Feeding myself... yah, I'm prepared for it and am trying to take my first step out. But providing for her as well is just too HUGE a responsibility for me to handle now and I'm just not prepared for that yet... and she doesn't seem to realise how heavy her words were. Oh well.

Hello all! Studio Project is really done. Like finally. Our Graduation Show is done. Hmm, guess the only thing left to be done is to get that piece of paper. You know what? We all made it :)

We had this class M'sia trip organised by my dear grandfather aka Old Man (Yes, the one in the picture below. Age? 28. Doesn't look like one and obviously doesn'tact like one) and the day before my left eye swell to the size of a golf ball... so I couldn't make it. Dang! Guess my classmates had fun. Sighs.

I'll really miss them. I'm already missing the times we spent together. I'll miss the days we slack and roll about in class, the days we had nothing better to do but start drawing and writing random stuff on glass windows, the days we had to eat cup noodles, the days our meals became slightly better - food delivery and soon became sick of it, the days we whine and cry together, the bitching moments... ...

It's the most depressing Lunar New Year ever.
I won't say I'm stuck doing studio project cos technically, I'm not doing.

Apple Picking Experience
I was damn ill on that day... pitifully sipping white porridge with egg for breakfast when there's a buffet of yummilicious food. All I can say is the nihon-go sore throat hurts a damn lot! I slept on the bus while the rest of them went to visit Kewpie Factory... and I think I got a lil better after the nap cos I was well enough to run and climb and play in the orchard ;)

Japan Kyushu Trip part 1

There's simply too many pictures. & like I said before blogger is not the easiest website to upload pictures in order... so, I'll just blog by events for my Japan trip kay. Will be totally random...

Kitakyushu museum of Natural History & Human History

I love this museum! I was damn impressed with this particular exhibit - The Time Travelling Room, bringing us back to the ancient world of Kitakyushu.

We enter this cave and the first scene that appears was a lake.

We are watching the whole scene 'underwater'. And slowly fishes and a crocodile-like creature starts appearing...as in realy swimming really moving... I swear I thought they were real at first!! They were computer generated images of fishes that swam in the gaint lake about 120 million years ago.

As we moved deeper into the cave, we saw many little different scenes, like a dinosaur nest, dinosaur bones... and I was so amazed by how REAL the sky looks!

And I only got even more impressed and amazed when we reached the end of the cave and entered a large diorama hall surrounded by larger dinosaurs (that moves! And blinks!) Turns out all the little scenes we saw earlier were just a part of this big scene.

There was someone there to narrate the whole scene, from evening to dawn to the extinction of dinosaurs by volcano eruptions... I obviously don't understand a thing she said, but the scene totally plays by its own and made everything clear. The sound effect was great as well!

The sky starts getting darker, stars appeared..... lightning flashed across the sky... at the far end, a volcano erupt....

It's just so beautiful. I was truly impressed and loved every single second of it.

& I'll end here FOR NOW ;)

I made her angry again.
I'm sorry for making her angry. But I'm not sorry for asking.
I do not understand why she's acting like that. It isn't such a big deal that she has to be this angry.

I know I'm not the best kid around. Maybe one of the worst. And I wouldn't say she's the best mom around either cos I know she's not. No doubt, she's a mother who sacrifices for her child, who does her best for her child, who wants to give the best to her child... ... I don't deny that at all and I really do appreciate every single thing she did for me.
She might not be the best, she might not always do the right things, we might not agree with each other all the time, but I love her for who she is. No matter how much she hurts me, be it for her wrong choice of words or actions, I'll always love her. And I mean it.

Being the only child isn't heaven.
For one, parents are overly protective of the one and only child.
I've always like the attention given to me, I've always like the love showered on me...
But when it was time for me to spread my wings, it was then that I realised the undivided attention has taken the shape of chains and locked me in. I felt her pulling me back with every step I took. And it's then that I wanted so much to have countless siblings just so that her attention span will be divided. Just so that I can breathe more freely...

I was chatting with Yati and she suddenly told me she has a picture of my brother... I was like "Eh? I don't have a brother." And she whipped out her phone and showed me a picture of Sean and I. Hurhur. Yeh, my brother has 4 sons man. Lols.
